Leon practices in the areas of taxation, tax planning, strategic business planning, mergers and acquisitions, as well as audit and attestation services. The deep industry knowledge, insights, and solutions Leon has accumulated over three decades in practice is sought after by clients in industries that include real estate, construction, affordable housing, manufacturing, distribution, and professional service providers.

Leon‘s diverse experience incorporates a broad range of issues, including taxation and accounting, ranging from strategic tax planning, and diverse tax compliance to financial accounting, governmental auditing and consulting services.

Leon is responsible for monitoring, analyzing and commenting on developments related to the general tax, audit, governmental, and audit practice of the firm, including legislation, regulation, cases, and rulings. He regularly contributes in the firm’s internal continued educational training.

His extensive experience in tax, audit, accounting, and attest services is beneficial to local school districts that partner with SEC. At Rives and Associates, Leon Rives II is the managing partner and is charged with leading the firm, including the firm’s niche in supplying auditing and consulting services to school systems throughout the United States. Under his leadership the firm has grown by more than tenfold in 5 years.

His specializes in providing strategic and operational leadership to troubled organizations. With more than 10 years of experience in the corporate world, he specializes in implementing corporate efficiencies into the fiscal world of school systems. John E. ParsleyJohn E. Parsley, CPA #28804, CVA is a Partner in the Lexington Office of Rives & Associates, LLP. John is a 16 year veteran of public accounting with an extensive background in business and personal tax planning and consulting, business valuation engagements and financial reporting. John has assisted clients in various industries including, law practices, medical practices, retail and wholesale business, restaurants, engineering firms, construction companies and commercial real estate developers, just to name a few. John has hands-on experience in 401(k) and ESOP plan administration. John has been instrumental in assessing his client’s needs, developing solutions to meet and exceed those needs and oversee the implementation of the plan, for the benefit of the client. John was responsible for software implementation and training of staff of the public accounting firm in which he was a partner.

John graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelors of Science in Accountancy and a Masters of Science in Accountancy.

John was honored with the Lynn Brown Memorial Award as the most outstanding student as a graduate of the first Master of Accountancy class at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Evan W. Rives Evan W. Rives, CPA #38683, is an Partner based out of the Lexington, NC office. Evan’s responsibilities include planning, supervising and reviewing accounting and auditing engagements, consulting on accounting and auditing matters and analyzing emerging regulations and rulings. His experience and technical skills are concentrated in the practice areas of governmental units and governmental regulatory agencies, HUD-assisted programs, nonprofit organizations, qualified plans, auto dealerships and manufacturing. Aaron PatelAaron Patel, CPA #34383, is a Partner in charge of the Charlotte office of Rives & Associates, LLP. He is the Chief Operating Officer of Tax Services for the Firm. He practices in the areas of auditing and taxation, as well as in various client industries including governmental units serving both local and statewide clients. He has over ten years of experience in public accounting and his accumulated experience incorporates a broad range of issues in auditing and accounting for school board, governmental, and nonprofit entities, as well as taxation services ranging from strategic tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, and diverse tax compliance to general financial accounting, auditing and consulting services.
